WVSU spring Creators Program continues with public relations workshop

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — The spring Creators Program continued Thursday night with a workshop on public relations.

West Virginia native Burke Allen, CEO and Chief Media Strategist of Allen Media Strategies in Washington D.C., was featured as the guest speaker.

Allen’s company represents people like singer Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. and author Homer Hickam.

The author, broadcaster, commentator and public relations guru helped those in attendance learn how to promote their work to maximize exposure.

In addition to Allen’s workshop, the spring schedule of the Creators Program series will include:

Business of Film Workshop on Feb. 22
Topics will include the role of a film office, how to find work in the state, location libraries, permits, tax credits and more.
Place: WVSU Economic Development Center
Time: 7 p.m.
Cost: Free

3D Animation 101 Workshop on April 22
This hands-on workshop will introduce beginners to a powerful, open-source 3D software. People will learn the basics of sculpting sets and characters and how to animate and render 3D videos.
Place: WVSU Economic Development Center
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cost: $20 (Free to WVSU students with valid ID)
